The Speaker summoned a special meeting of party leaders this morning. However, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody.

Representatives from the United People's Freedom Alliance, United National Party, Tamil National Alliance and Sri Lanka Freedom Party had participated in today's meeting that was held at the parliamentary complex.

The party leaders met to discuss the presentation of the proposed 19th Amendment to parliament on Monday (20).

However, sources from the Opposition said that the party leaders had not reached an agreement on the debate on the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that is scheduled to be held on the 20th and 21st of this month.
