The CAA noted that the decision was made after a string of complaints were made by the consumers on the retail of goods at a higher price than the actual weight of the goods.

The CAA added that scales used in bakeries should only be those approved by the Measurement Units, Standards & Services Department.

The CAA also pointed out this move will be gazetted in the near future.
