Speaking to ‘BBC Sandeshaya’, he said that President Maithripala Sirisena met with leaders of the UPFA last Saturday and declared that there was nothing to oppose at all if the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa wished to contest the Gen. election under a UPFA ticket.
Accordingly, the series of rallies calling to name the former President as Prime ministerial candidate would be transformed into campaigning rallies from this point onwards.
The former minister also said that the majority of the UPFA is of the belief that the next Gen. election should be contested with the joint collaboration of the former President.
