The meeting of UPFA party leaders held yesterday under President Maithripala Sirisena's patronage has decided to include electoral reforms in the 19th Amendment.
In such a scenario, President Sirisena will be able to dissolve parliament the passing of the 19th Amendment.
A four-member Committee of the SLFP is now formulating this package. The committee is to meet on April 15 to wrap up the draft package.
The draft package will be presented to the UPFA leaders at a meeting to be chaired by Sirisena on April 16 and they hope to reach finality.
The draft will then be presented for approval by leaders of political parties represented in Parliament at a meeting on April 19.
Parliament is expected to debate the 19th Amendment on April 20 and 21.
