Marikkar is responding to a remark by Ranawaka, in which he has said the 19th amendment should be defeated as it is an attempt by a group incapable of winning elections to gain power through a constitutional conspiracy.
Ranawaka was also the only MP who had opposed a constitutional amendment in 2001 for good governance and the for the formation of independent commissions, the councillor said.
After doing so, he had voted in support of the dictatorial 19th amendment, he charged.
Marikkar also said Mahinda Rajapaksa was defeated not in order to bring in a dictator worse than him.
