JHU General Secretary, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka says the government should conduct its affairs under a common agreement.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday (6), the Minister pointed out that the proposed 19th Amendment should also be carried out with a common agreement.
He further emphasized that the JHU would not allow rhe government to replace the executive presidency with an executive prime minister.
"In the constitution proposed by Wickremesinghe, President Maithripala Sirisena has only been given the positions of head of state, commander in chief and the head of the executive. This is the 1972 constitution. Wickremesinghe may be able to fool the UNP, but he cannot fool us. This 19th Amendment is a photocopy of the 1972 constitution. This is robbing the people's political supremacy of the people in broad daylight" Ranawaka said.
