Sunil, Keheliya issued notice on missing person’s case

The Jaffna Magistrate Court has issued notice on a Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti and former minister, United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarian Keheliya Rambukwella to appear before court on July 30.

The Magistrate has reportedly issued the order when the Habeas Corpus inquiry into the disappearance of Lalith Kumar Weeraraju and Kugan Muruganathan was taken up for hearing yesterday.

The two individuals, who had been members of the People’s Struggle Movement had allegedly disappeared on December 9, 2011 in Jaffna.

The petition has claimed that former Minister Rambukwella, speaking to media had stated that the two activists are in custody, and that their location cannot be disclosed.

Rambukwella and Handunnetti had been summoned by court earlier on December 10, 2014, but they were not present at courts.
