JVP Politburo member, K.D. Lalkantha said that what has been formed cannot be considered a national government as there are still a considerable number of parties represented in parliament who are not members of the government.

"A national government is formed under special circumstances with the participation of all parties in parliament. This is not a situation like that," he noted, adding that it is a "coalition government."

"The Opposition Leader post should now be taken away from Nimal Siripala de Silva," Lalkantha said.
