Speaking, a senior spokesperson of the SLFP said that the amendment lacks the suggestions of their party and that clipping of Presidential powers and introducing electoral reforms should be implemented together.
He also added that this draft amendment is formulated on the preference of UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Dr. Jayampathy Wickremeratne.
Noting that the constitutional reforms committee of the SLFP has decided to convene and take up this matter soon, he further said that a party leaders' meeting would be convened before next Tuesday (24) to inform them the stance of the SLFP.
