The Council administration at a news conference has said that around Rs. 50 million had been allegedly spent for political purposes.
Chairman of the National Youth Services Council, Attorney-at-Law Eranda Weliange has told the media that although over Rs.50 million was allocated for a youth competition, monies had not been spent on it.
He has claimed that the monies instead had been allocated for the Nil Balakaya, which was headed by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's son, MP Namal Rajapaksa.
The Nil Balakaya has allegedly used funds of the National Youth Services Council to carry out political propaganda work.
