Thai Ethanol stock, an apple businessman's?

Thai Ethanol stock, an apple businessman's? Featured

The  recently discovered 16,000-litre stock of Ethanol found from a container in Orugodawatta was brought into the country by an apple businessman, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.

However, it is yet to be revealed on behalf of whom it was done.

Former minister Johnston Fernando faced similar charges in the past and at the present, the Excise Department has initiated investigations after closing down the brewery of his Wayamba Distilleries.

Meanwhile, around 10 breweries are facing closure after orders have been passed to close down breweries which are unable to pay Rs.200 million as monthly tax, reports say.

Accordingly, investigation teams suspect that the above stock of Ethanol was brought in by an individual who has no pressures from the government and who is in a position to utilise it to acquire profits.
