Charges were filed under section 9 of the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities Law No. 1 on 1975, citing that Gunawardena has failed to declare his Assets and Liabilities in 2012.

Taking up the case, Colombo Chief Magistrate Justice Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the MP to appear before courts on March 31.
