ASP's party symbol changed due to MR Featured

A.S.P. Liyanage has yesterday (17) made a formal request from the Elections Commissioner to change the symbol of his political party - the Sri Lanka Labour Party.

According to reliable sources, the above appeal was made over a request made by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

It is also said that Rajapaksa is intending to contest the forthcoming General election under the ticket of the Sri Lanka Labour Party.

At the moment the party symbol is a Kangaroo.

In his formal request, Mr. Liyanage has cited that his party wishes to engage in a broader operation during the next General election and therefore wishes to change the symbol as the party feels it is unsatisfactory to the public.

Meanwhile, the letter further states that they would arrive for a discussion on this regard at 10.30 am today (18), according to an appointment granted to them earlier by the elections commissioner.
