Recent appointments to top military posts have heightened doubts on the effectiveness of the proposed 'internal mechanism' to investigate war crimes, reports the Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka (JDS) website.
The UN decided to defer the war crime investigation report which was to be presented to the current 28 session of the UN Human Rights Council, to September of this year as the government pledged to conduct an impartial internal investigation.
