Admiral of the fleet is the highest rank of the British Royal Navy although routine appointments ceased in 1995. It is a five-star rank, equivalent to a field marshal in the British Army or a marshal of the Royal Air Force.
Prince Charles of UK was appointed as an honorary admiral of the fleet on 16 June 2012 while former Royal Navy officer Michael Boyce was appointed as an honorary admiral of the fleet in the Queen's 2014 Birthday Honours.
