Deshapriya has made this observation during a discussion held yesterday (10) on the proposed electoral reforms. The meeting was headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Commissioner has explained to Wickremesinghe and other political party representatives of the difficulties faced by the Department if elections are held soon after the proposed reforms receive parliamentary approval.
According to Deshapriya, implementing the reforms will take at least three months even if the staff at the Elections Department work 12 hours every day.
