Although many projects were initiated under the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) recommendations to ensure the material needs of the people in the North and the East, cordial relations and mutual trust is yet to be built, the President has said.
The President made these comments addressing members of the Presidential Task Force on Reorganization at the President's Office last evening (06).
The President has stated that a proper programme to strengthen peace and reconciliation among all masses should be introduced.
The obstructions that prevent the people in the North and East in enjoying democratic rights should be identified, he has added.
After identifying these issues, speedy measures should be taken to create a necessary environment for citizens to gain access to democratic rights, he has further said.
The President has also advised to look into issues that can be solved instantly and to appoint a sub-committee of the Reorganization Task Force to implement such solutions.
