Recently, the The SLFP Central Committee had decided to restrict its members from participating at events organized by other political parties or making statements at news conferences organized by other parties.
The rally in Kandy, which will be held at 3.00pm today at the Central Market is the second rally organised with the objective of bringing in former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as prime ministerial candidate.
Despite the above decision of the SLFP CC, it is said that several provincial council and local government representatives of the party have decided to attend the rally.
Prasanna to Australia!
Meanwhile, Western Province Chief minister Prasanna Ranatunga, who is one of the prominent figures firmly believing that Rajapaksa should be made the PM candidate of the UPFA, will not be present today as he has gone overseas.
However, the move is seen by many as a manoeuvre to evade the Kandy rally.
