A lecturer of Archeology at the University of Kelaniya, he has penned many books on the subject in Sinhala and in English.

Once, he also functioned as the ambassador in France.

His remains will lie at a private parlour from Monday evening until 9.30 am Wednesday morning, when he will be taken to the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology (PGIAR), 407 Bauddhalokha Mw, Colombo 7.

His Funeral rites will be held at the Jawatte/Torrington Cemetery.
