The appointment has been made by IGP N.K. Illangakoon.

SSP Jayawardena, who has held several posts in the SIS for over 12 years, has even once functioned as its Additional Director.

Previously, he was functioning as the Kankasanthurei Division SSP.

Jayawardena is an old boy of Nalanda College.
