Noting that the SLFP Central Committee members have been informed to air their opinions on a report formulated by a party committee on the proposed constitutional amendment Bill, Premajayantha said that once they receive the opinions, the CC members will take them up for discussion. Afterwards, the proposals of the party will be handed over to the government, he added.
Speaking recently, Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that constitutional amendment proposing to abolish executive presidency would be tabled before parliament in March. He added that if the SLFP does not back this, the matter would be taken before the public instead after dissolving parliament.
