Approval has been given for the screening of Prasanna Vithanage’s ‘Oba Nethuwa Obath Ekka’ which was banned during the former regime of president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The then censor board had decided that the film would not be allowed to be screened without dropping several scenes and several dialogues.

The new censor board led by Saman Athaudahetti has passed the film without any changes, under the best-suited-for-adults category.

‘Oba Nethuwa Obath Ekka’ won the Cyclo D’Or and NETPAC Jury Prize at the 19th International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in Vesoul, France.

It is an adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novel Meek One.
