These proposals relate to a new constitution, new electoral system, re-establishment of independent commissions for the restoration of good governance, a proper state mechanism against fraud and corruption, national policies for education and lands and, national and religious reconciliation, MP Mahinda Amaraweera told ‘Sri Lanka Mirror.’
If the UNP agrees to implement these proposals, the SLFP has decided that it would not seek special treatment when deciding ministerial portfolios in the national government, he said.
Also, the SLFP MPs who receive ministerial portfolios will accept only the salary and the privileges of a parliamentary member, and will decline the other attached privileges, he said.
