JVP says no to a National Govt. Featured

Leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) - Anura Kumara Dissanayake has stated that their party does not agree with plans to set up a national government.

Instead, a General election must be held after dissolving parliament on April 23, he strongly emphasises.

He also voices the JVP's strong disapproval on prolonging the time period instead of holding a General election.

Noting that political parties can set up a national government as they wished after a General election, the JVP leader adds that their party will not be a part of a national government.

'Political prisoner'
Meanwhile, speaking to media, Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) - S.B. Nawinna says that their party agreed to accept ministerial portfolios and other positions in the national government that would be set up in the future as they cannot allow President Maithripala Sirisena to become a 'political prisoner' of the UNP.
