She is charged of submitting forged documents to obtain a diplomatic passport.
The police spokesperson added that the Magistrate visited the private hospital in Malabe where Mrs. Weerawansa was receiving treatment.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended Shashi Weerawansa at a private hospital in Malabe, on Sunday (22) evening.
Ex-Minister Weerawansa was also summoned to the Police Headquarters this morning and questioned by CID officers in connection with a complaint lodged by Kaduwela Mayor H.A. Buddhadasa in 2011.
