Elections commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says that if MP Jayantha Ketagoda resigns from parliament, he is prepared to appoint Gen. Sarath Fonseka to that MP seat which will fall vacant with the resignation.
However, Ketagoda is yet to resign despite stating that he will do so to handover his MP seat to Gen. Fonseka. This is the issue, Deshapriya adds.
Meanwhile, speaking at a media briefing recently, Gen. Fonseka said that he would seek legal redress on this regard.
