Accordingly, Lalith Alahakoon and Lakshman Gunasekara have been appointed editors of the ‘Daily News’ and ‘Sunday Observer’ respectively.

Mr. Alahakoon has previously held the editorship of several newspapers and was an editorial consultant for Wijaya Newspapers prior to the new appointment.

Mr. Gunasekara is the founder president of of the South Asia Free Media Association - Sri Lanka branch. He has functioned as editor of ‘Sunday Observer’ previously as well.

For the first time, the ‘Dinamina’ newspaper has a female editor in Pushpa Rowel.

Also, senior journalist Lakshman Piyasena has been appointed editor of ‘Silumina' newspaper.
