Maithripala unhappy with John Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena is said to be unhappy with Minister John Amaratunga who is thought to be lenient in dealing with complaints made against Ministers and MPs of the former government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, a senior official in the Presidential Secretariat told srilankamirror.

Amaratunga’s Public Order Ministry puts him in charge of the Police who have been accused of lagging behind in handling complainst against the previous administration.

It is reported that Amaratunga’s slow progress is worrying the Sri Lanka Freedom Party who fear the lethargy on the part of the Minister could pave the way for the Rajapaksas to raise their head again and cause a bigger rift in the Party.

The Presidential spokesman also said that any further delays on the part of Amaratunga could result in his removal from handling the Police department.

Meanwhile President Maithripala Sirisena has already curtained the functions of State Defence Minister Ruwan Wijewardena.
