In a high-handed act not done by anyone else against whom charges of corruption and fraud have been levelled, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has issued a Statement saying that it was innocent and not responsible for wrongdoing in total contrast to the JVP which took them to the Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption.

The statement was issued by secretary Nishantha Ranatunga himself who is at the centre of the corruption charges, chief executive officer Ashley de Silva and media manager Rajitha Fernando.

The statement said that the corruption allegations against Ranatunga were baseless while accusing the JVP of malicious intent to discredit the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket and would clarify the matter with the Media in due course.

"SLC is in the process of discussing the matter further with the legal committee in order to take this process further", the statement said.

In a complaint to the Bribery Commission, the JVP accused SLC and Ranatunga in particular on 25 counts of misusing his position to usurp the functions of cricket administration in the country besides what they said were rampant fraud and mismanagement.
