Namal's helicopter bill Rs.15 million, Weerawansa's Rs.5.8m Featured

A whopping Rs.30 million was squandered on internal airfare travel by Ministers and MPs who supported former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the last Presidential election held on January 8, the Ravaya newspaper has reported.

From December 1, 2014 to January 9, 2015, the number of helicopter flights made by them amounted to 138.

Namal Rajapaksa, Basil Rajapaksa, Wimal Weerawansa, Susil Premajayanth, Dinesh Gunawardena, Tissa Vitharana, Dayasiri Jayasekera along with candidate Sarath Manamendra have all been responsible for the colossal sum of money for air travel.

By way of the breakdown, Wimal Weerawansa's air expenses had reached Rs. 5.8 million, second only to Namal Rajapaksa's Rs.15 million which is the highest.

Basil Rajapaksa (Rs.4.8 million), Dayasiri Jayasekera (Rs. 3.9 million) and Susil Premajayanth (Rs 2.6 million) follow.

Ravaya also reported that former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa's air bill had come to Rs.2.2 million.
