The no confidence motion calls for the immediate removal of John Amaratunga from police related duties.

The former minister also said that the motion would be tabled without causing inconvenience to the President.

The no confidence motion is over minister Amaratunga's alleged involvement in connection with the recent assault on the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.

However, political analysts say that tabling of such a no confidence motion would be a display of the UPFA's power ahead of the upcoming General election.
