Head of the Balapitiya Provincial Council Dayaratne de Silva and eight others were arrested today (February 2) in connected with the stone attack on the vehicle of Ranil Wickremasinghe who was then the leader of the Opposition.
Two Provincial Council members Ajith Asela de Soysa and MD Senarath were attacked in the incident which took place on June 11, 2013 in Balapitiya.
The two victims had made a complaint to the Ahungalla Police but no action was taken for one and a half years.
