More antics of Mohan Peiris come to light Featured

Another of the antics of the former Chief Justice has come to light. It happened before he became Chief Justice when he appeared as the Attorney at Law for a petitioner in a case involving the Customs in 2008.

The case CSR 360/2008 referred to Royal Fernwood Porcelain Limited which was brought to a close on March 31, 2009 when Royal Fernwood Porcelain Limited paid the Customs Rs 2.6 million.

But before the case ended, Peiris had on March 9, 2009 sent the Director General of the Customs Department a letter.

Legal experts say such conduct on the part of Peiris was against the norms of the profession.
