Sri Lanka and World Bank to probe Rajapaksa family's overseas wealth Featured

The government with the help of the World Bank is to probe the activities of members of the Rajapaksa family over money deposited in overseas banks as well as properties purchased in foreign countries.

As such the government is to seek the services of Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (STAR) which is a partner of the World Bank that helps governments track down ill-gotten wealth of politicians anywhere in the world.

As a first step lawyer JC Veliamuna will leave for the USA on February 10 with a written complaint that he will submit to STAR.

Veliamuna is a member of a Committee set up by the government to probe corruption and fraud of the previous administration.
