Sarath Fonseka lost his MP seat after being stripped of his civic rights by the Rajapaksa regime.

As an initial step, a group of lawyers including BASL chairman - Upul Jayasuriya is to meet with the Elections Commissioner this morning (02)  in order to clarify the legal situation, a DP spokesman said.

He added that a series of protest demonstrations would be initiated around the country until Fonseka is named to parliament.

Noting that certain persons in the government are attempting to prevent Fonseka being reinstated as a Parliamentarian, the DP spokesman further said that attempts have also been taken to influence the Attorney General's Department on this regard.
