Even with the change of Constitution that will clip the executive powers of the President, the government will have no qualms with Maithripala Sirisena being able to hold up to three portfolios.

It will mean that President Maithripala Sirisena will be able to head the Ministries of Defence, Mahaweli (River) and Environment.

However the Prime Minister will be the head of the Ministerial Board.

The paper calling for the change of the Constitution and the abolishing of the executive Presidency is expected to be table in Parliament soon.
