The European Commission has informed of this to Sri Lanka's minister of Foreign Affairs - Mangala Samaraweera, who is currently in Brussels.
However, the EC has commended Sri Lanka's efforts to revoke the ban and is considering the pledges made by the new government, it adds.
Quoting a spokesperson of the EC, the BBC Sandeshaya further reports that the ban will not be revoked unless illegal fishing stops in Sri Lanka and that a delegation is expected to arrive in the island to review the situation.
