He made the remarks yesterday (January 25) while meeting senior stalwarts of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) held at the Parliament Speaker's official residence in Colombo.
They have urged Rajapaksa to come forward as the Prime Ministerial candidate from a new political front at the upcoming General Election.
In response, Rajapaksa has said he would campaign islandwide to ensure a SLFP victory and that his son Namal will be contesting for a seat in Parliament under the UPFA ticket.
