It follows an investigation initiated by Minister Jayawickrema Perera over a Rs.1.5 billion commission paid to secure an order for the import of a stock of rice in a scam valued at Rs.8.5 billion.

An internal source at the Ministry of Food Safety told srilankamirror that the rogue gang has been sanctioned by a Muslim minister in the government who wants to bring Sathosa under his control.

Since been sworn in as Minister of Food Safety, Jayawickrema Perera has unearthed several large scale scams at Sathosa.
