The case was taken up despite the absence of the suspect - Kamal Amarasinghe.

The magistrate, who imposed a fine of Rs. 15,000 for a separate charge, ordered a 3-month non-rigorous imprisonment if the fine is not paid.

Amarasinghe, who failed to appear in court ever since the case was taken up, has gone to Singapore after applying for leave on Jan. 19, police sources say.
