Karunanayake said this after he assumed duties at the Finance Ministry premises yesterday (13). The Minister said that the prime objective of the new government is to fulfill the aspirations of the people for their benefit.

He further said that the new government expects to develop the economy of the country by way of proper management of revenue collected from tax paid by the public and attracting foreign investments.

Karunanayake said that the Sri Lankan economy will be open to the whole world while the country looks to access the global market and safeguard local industries.
