Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshappriya has cautioned all candidates in the fray for the January 8 Presidential election to refrain from campaigning though text messages via mobile phones.
He has told them that such a practice was in conflict with the Election Law.
It has been brought to the Election Commissioner's notice that text messaging via mobile phones persuading voters could reach a high point after campaigning is officially brought to an end on December 5.
