Rajitha stating utter falsehoods - MR Featured

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that he had not discussed the issues faced by his children with President Maithripala Sirisena, let alone about the bank accounts in Dubai as alleged by minister Rajitha Senaratne.
Speaking to journalists during an event in Battaramulla, Mr. Rajapaksa said that this is yet another blatant falsehood by the minister, similar to other falsehoods he had uttered during the election period.

Noting that although he dislike to respond to such false alleges, Mr. Rajapaksa said that he is stating thus to unveil the truth to the public.

Clarifying that he had never called the recently resigned DG of the Bribery Commission, Mr. Rajapaksa said there is no lie that minister Rajitha cannot utter.

Dilrukshi spilled the beans
Speaking at the Cabinet briefing on Oct. 18, minister Rajitha severely criticised the former DG of the Bribery Commission - Dilrukshi Dias.

Senaratne said, once Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe visited President Sirisena stating that she has taken all steps to secure the money deposited in these Dubai accounts and asked him to sign a letter requesting the Emir of UAE to provide account details. "What was the result? The UAE refused. If Dubai kept giving bank details like that no one will deposit cash there. We have to start a money laundering inquiry in Sri Lanka first, which she had not done. Not only that, less than an hour after the President signed the above mentioned letter, Mahinda Rajapaksa called him and asked 'you wrote a letter against me, Maithri?' How did this happen?,” he asked.
