The joint opposition is planning to submit a special report to foreign diplomats in Sri Lanka with regard to the controversial criticism by president Maithripala Sirisena of the Bribery Commission, FCID and the CID, according to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror.

On the instructions of ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prof. G.L. Peiris is drafting the report, which is to be handed over to the embassies and high commissions in Colombo within the next few days.

The report will say the president’s remark has established the fact that those institutions were being used to take political revenge.

Meanwhile, UNP general secretary Kabir Hashim says the prime minister approved of the president’s stand regarding the Bribery Commission, FCID and the CID.

Both leaders agreed at a meeting on October 13 to safeguard the government, he said at a meeting in Kegalle on the following day.

Minister Vajira Abeywardena too, has censured the FCID, saying the police could not be allowed to rule over public servants.

Made at a function in Galle, it is the first such remark by a UNP minister.
