Mrs. Inoka Mohotti, a senior officer of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has been summoned to the CID to obtain a statement on the leakage of classified information pertaining to the controversial Bond Issue.

A CID investigation has been initiated after the Indrajit Coomaraswamy had called for a probe over classified information of the Bank being leaked.

PM's committee

Meanwhile, reliable sources say that Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe too, is to appoint a special committee on this regard, soon after his next foreign tour concludes.

Sources add that leaking of such classified data has continued for several years, leading up to several issues.

This trend could also be a serious hinderance to the setting up of a financial city, as planned by the government, sources further say.

Meanwhile, a group of economy experts have urged the government to take legal redress against officials behind the leak as such incidents could be a hinderance when attempting to secure the trust of foreign investors.

The government is also of the view that the culprits should be penalised, sources add.
