No secret agreement with president - Gotabhaya

No secret agreement with president - Gotabhaya Featured

The Rajapaksas do not have any secret agreement with president Maithripala Sirisena, says former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The president did not discuss with him before expressing displeasure over the summoning of three former Navy chiefs to courts, Gotabhaya has told BBC Sandeshaya from China where he is attending a defence conference.

He said he was happy the president has come to understand the truth about the FCID and the CID, and believed he would not give into the various agendas of some.

When asked as to whether the serious allegations leveled against him should not be investigated in accordance with the country’s law, Gotabhaya said he had not avoided any of the investigations.

He is under probe for causing a Rs. 11.4 billion loss to the state by allowing Avant Garde private company to run a floating armoury between 2012 and 2015.

However, the Anti Corruption Front points out that the three ex-Navy commanders had been summoned to courts over the issue only because they had been consultants to Avant Garde after their retirement.
