The tender had been awarded to a company, whose owner also runs a television channel that has been strongly criticizing the coal purchase deal by the power and energy ministry.

Attempts to contact deputy minister Ajith P. Perera and ministry secretary Dr. B.M.S. Batagoda for a comment failed.

This project is being implemented by the power ministry in collaboration with the CEB and the National Sustainable Energy Authority.

The first solar panel under this project, fixed at the president’s house, is to be unveiled tomorrow (06).
