DIG Senaratne has been quizzed on this regard but investigations are said to be delayed as Senaratne is to retire on August 26.
A charge sheet could deprive him of perks including his pension, reports add.
The incident in Settikulam on the afternoon of 30 March 2011 left Ranga’s bodyguard - a police sergeant, dead. However, the former politician escaped without a scratch.
At the time, police records said the sergeant had driven the vehicle, but it now been revealed that Ranga had been behind the wheel.
