Complaint on CBSL salary hike in 2015

Complaint on CBSL salary hike in 2015 Featured

Two former employees of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka have called for an investigation on the extreme salary hike of the Bank employees in 2015.

Retired CBSL officers - W.A.D.E. Weerasinghe and A.G. Rathnaweera have formally requested requested this from President Maithripala Sirisena and the FCID.

Such a salary hike had never taken place, not just in the history of the CBSL but in the whole of the state sector history, they say.

Due to this salary hike, the CBSL governor's monthly salary had been increased by Rs. 267,000 which is a percentage of 110%.

A deputy governor's salary had been upped by Rs. 193,000 which is an increase of 107%, the add.

They have further said that even the CBSL minor staff have higher salaries than government doctors.

It is a corrupt act to impose such salary hikes when the CBSL has been incurring losses in the last few years, they further say, adding that the increments are being paid from the income of the Treasury.
