Titled ‘A Sri Lanka free of alcohol’, it is being organized by the health ministry’s mental health unit and the NATA.
Sri Lanka will become the only country to introduce a national policy on tobacco and alcohol, said Dr. Abeykoon.
According to him, 35 per cent of Sri Lankan men consume alcohol, which adversely affects the economy.
Alcohol is a main contributory factory against public health and poverty eradication, and also leads to more than 260 types of non-communicable diseases, said Dr. Abeykoon.
